Book Review: Fool Me Once by Ashley Winstead

Lee “Stoner” Stone is a kick-ass communications director for a female owned electric vehicle company. She’s enjoying playing the long game towards one day running for public office. Romantically, she lives by the motto “never trust love,” after four heartbreaks in a row. Things take a turn for the interesting and frustrating for Lee when her ex-boyfriend and last heartbreak shows up working as a policy expert for Texas governor, and the two are thrown into working together to get a clean energy bill passed. Will Texas-sized sparks fly between these bitter exes or will they make a big mess of things?

I somehow haven’t read many political romcoms and so this one was a nice change of pace. I love the enemies to lovers trope and this one was done well. We also Stan a MMC that hypes up and believes in his gf! I was tangibly frustrated by Lee’s stubbornness throughout this book but glad she went through the emotional growth of supporting her mom and forgiving her dad so she could be emotionally available for her next love. I highly recommend this for those who love politics, clean energy, and enemies to lovers.

TW: cheating, car accident
