Book Review: The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf

True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in all alone during the storm. There’s a warm, cozy fire burning and complete silence for her writing retreat. It would be the perfect getaway if it weren’t the same house that two decades before two people were murdered in and a girl disappeared from. She’s doing her best to evade ghosts from her past and focus on her book - until she hears a commotion outside and realizes a truck has crashed outside near the house. She finds a young child outside in the snow and carries the child inside to warm up and change. She then begins to search for answers and discovers the abandoned home is not as empty as she thought.

I had such a hard time putting this down even to work or sleep! It kept me on the edge of my seat. The two stories and timelines merged together beautifully. It’s a heartbreaking story for all characters but the character growth and revenge is very satisfying. I highly recommend for those fans of mystery and thrillers!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 4/5
