Book Review: The Prisoner by B.A. Paris

Amelie has been in survival mode her whole life. She catches a lucky break cleaning for a woman she meets in a coffee shop and this connection opens up a whole new world of opportunity for her. She finds herself marrying a billionaire and enjoying his luxurious lifestyle. Until she wakes up in a dark room with no idea where she is or what’s going on. Will Amelie survive this?

This one was a wild ride! This is a detail-oriented one with lots of characters and plot strings so definitely keep that in mind going in. It took a little bit for this to really fully suck me in but omg I could not put it down once I was hooked. There was a tangible tension that the FMC gave off that I wanted to fix for her the whole time. I normally don’t love dual timelines but it worked really well in this story in that it helped reveal the pieces to the reader bit by bit all in due time, they were also labeled. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick paced suspense/thriller!

TW: kidnapping, gaslighting, blackmail, sexual abuse, death in the family, Stockholm syndrome, PTSD, survivors guilt

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 - 4.5/5
