Taylor Swift Songs to Book Counterparts - Midnights Edition - 3 AM Edition

Have you ever been listening to your favorite Taylor Swift songs and wished there was a book that elicited the same emotions (ok, well similar emotions!) as the song? Look no further! I’ve combed through my reads over the last couple of years for the perfect book matchups for Taylor’s most recent album, Midnights - The 3 AM Edition.

  • The Great War - The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Sylvia Moreno-Garcia There is a war of ethics as well as a literal war going on both inside of and outside of the main character of this unique story. Carlota has made up her mind that she will be with this man once this conflict simmers down but is it meant to be?

  • Bigger Than the Whole Sky - We Were Liars by E. Lockhart This story will chew you up and spit your soul out, just like this second extra track Taylor gifted us of the 3 AM tracks. I’m not going to spoil this for you, but you’ll be left with the same feelings of what could have been by the end of this super quick read.

  • Paris - From the Jump by Lacie Waldron Liv and Lucas seem like they would be a bad idea together from the jump of this book. But it’s clear when they think about each other they’re transported to somewhere else with this person in their mind. Will they overcome their reservations about spoiling their friendship and just be together already?!

  • High Infidelity - Every Summer After by Carley Fortune Persephone and Sam were meant to be together, until they weren’t. As they’re thrown back into each other’s orbit years after they exploded apart, they’re forced to address the past and it turns out they were each definitely keeping score. Will they be able to reconcile the past and pick up the pieces of what was headed towards a once in a lifetime romance or will foolish pride ruin the day?

  • Glitch - The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab In 1714 Addie LaRue makes a deal with the devil - a deal that renders her unable to be remembered by anyone but able to live forever, “free.” She floats through hundreds of years unable to form lasting bonds with another soul until one day, she meets a man who remembers her. As he continues to remember her and they form a romantic bond, they think surely it must be a glitch - until she discovers the devil seemingly does not make mistakes.

  • Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve - The Last Housewife by Ashley Winstead We all seem to have that one toxic relationship that forever changes who we are as people and lovers. For T.Swift, the was John. But what if the person mentally and emotionally ruined you became a cult leader and was tied to widespread fraud, financial crimes, and murder? How far would you go to get closure?

  • Dear Reader - Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid Never take advice from someone who is falling apart is a recurring theme throughout Malibu Rising, as is hiding in plain sight of one of the main characters. What do you get when your dad is a rockstar who has run away from his responsibilities his whole life (read: children) and he gets invited to the party of the year thrown by his famous surfer-turned-model daughter who is being cheated on by her tennis star husband - DRAMA.
