The Best of 2022: End of Year Book Wrap Up

2022 was a big year full of reading for me. I began the year with a modest goal of 75 books, just one more than I had read the year before. I ended up reading 150 books by the end of December, including fulfilling the alphabet challenge of book titles. Of course, some of the books wound up being flops for me and some of them are my new favorites. This is the list of my favorite book I read in each month last year.

January Fave: In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead

-Kept me on the edge of my seat.

-Dark academia

-Whodunnit

February Fave: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

-Unique podcast format intertwined.

-Cute, heartwarming romance

-Satisfying mystery

March Fave: Last Chance Library by Freya Sampson

-Feel good story

-Noble cause: saving one of my favorite places

-Self-discovery, character growth arc.

April Fave: Dial “A” for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

-Flawless blend of love and murder

-Hilarious shenanigans that kept me bent over double laughing.

-High-stress situations that made me nervous.

May Fave: Meet Me In Paradise by Libby Hubscher

-Absolute ugly-crying status tear jerker.

-The most stubborn and relatable main character.

-Double cute love story arc.

June Fave: His and Hers by Alice Feeney

-Twists on twists that keep you guessing.

-Multiple POV and all are flawed

-Psychological thriller

July Fave: Stay Awake by Megan Goldin

-Completely unique plot that I absolutely love centered around memory loss/resets.

-Urgent suspense that keeps you engaged and on your toes.

-Finished this in under 3 sittings.

August Fave: Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

-Told partially through the POV of a coma patient - gave this serious Silent Patient vibes, which is one of my faves!

-Psychological thriller

-Can we really trust our memories?

September Fave: Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

-Young, blossoming love story

-The idea of inextricable soulmates

-Betrayal so painful you literally feel your heart breaking

October Fave: The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

-New girl in town and out of place - semi Gossip Girl vibes

-Puzzles and riddles intermingled - absolutely loved this.

-Ever so slightly reminiscent of “The Death of Mrs. Westaway” by Ruth Ware - family torn and upset post-will reading.

November Fave: The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James

-Dual POV through connected protagonists

-Mystery turned thriller

-Gothic element

December Fave: Twice in a Lifetime by Melissa Baron

-The Time Traveller’s Wife type vibes

-Character growth and learning to be happy arc

-Love story that defies time and logic
